Evidence on Mona Lisa Model Found

FLORENCE, ITALY. - Giuseppe Pallanti, An Italian historian, said he found the last resting place of the woman portrayed in Leonardo da Vinci's famous Mona Lisa. According to Pallanti, the woman died at age 63 in July 1542. She was buried in a convent in Florence that is now dilapidated. According to the historian, the woman spent her last days there. The woman’s name is Lisa Gherardini and Pallanti thinks she was widowed and ill at the time of her death. Pallanti said that the documents show that she was still a famous figure in Florentine society: as the whole parish turned out for her funeral.
